Special Feature: 2005 Graduate Monica Petersen
"My Name is Monica Petersen. I am a 2005 graduate of Mora High School. During my senior year, I was awarded the Lois and Bob Beck Renewable Scholarship. I am currently in pursuit of a double major in math and statistics at North Dakota State University. I plan to pursue a career in the field of actuary science.
I have appreciated the financial support I have received from Mora Dollars for Scholars. I have realized how fortunate Mora students are to have so much support from the community. Many of my college friends have told me that local scholarships are very rare in their communities, so Mora students are very lucky in that aspect.
As far as advice for Mora students, it is important to establish yourself as a well-rounded person while you are still in high school. Along with extracurricular activities, try to be involved in many different types of volunteer activities. This will make you stick out when it comes to applying for college and/or scholarships.
I can't explain how much less stressful my college career has been due to the efforts and financial support I have received from Mora Dollars for Scholars. Make sure to take full advantage of the financial support offered through Dollars for Scholars and other local scholarships by applying for as many as you are eligible for and by completing your applications very thoroughly. Good Luck!"
